The coins of kings of Sophene (Tsopk) dated to the second half of the 3rd century BC are believed to the first Armenian coins.

Emil Kazaz to open gallery in Armenia

Famous American-Armenian artist Emil Kazaz will visit Armenia next February to open Emil Kazaz Gallery.

Paintings, graphics, sculpture works, previously not exhibited in Armenia, would be presented in the gallery. The gallery opening is dedicated to artists' 60th anniversary. Kazaz will tell the visitors about his works.

Emil Kazaz was born in Armenia's Gyumri in 1953. In 1980 he emigrated to the U.S. He was awarded one of the 5 sculpture gold medals at the Florence Biennale in 2003.
